Obituary


Richard G. Heebner, 65., of Southbury, passed away Saturday August 17, 2013 in Pennsylvania.
Richard was born November 30, 1947 in Waterbury. He was the son of the late Edmund Richard and Shirley Mae (Gaylord) Heebner. He was raised in Southbury and graduated from Southbury High School in 1966 and graduated from Waterbury State Technical College with an Associate's degree in Applied Science in Mechanical Engineering Technology in 1968. He also graduated from Waterbury State Technical College with an Associate's degree in Science in Industrial Management Technology with high honors in 1983. Richard served during the Vietnam Conflict having attained the rank of Sergeant in the US Air Force from 1970-1974 and also the Air National Guard from 1974-1976. He was employed by Sikorsky Aircraft from 1974-2004 as Senior Manufacturing Engineer. He was a member of the Waterbury Lodge of Elks, #265, a 32d degree Mason, Liberty Continental Lodge, Scottish Rite Bodies, and a Shriner. He also was active in Boy Scouts with his son and enjoyed model making, target shooting, air shows, and military history.

He is survived by his siblings, Judy Mordhorst and Holly Taylor, his children, Katrina Heebner and Carl F. Heebner, II, children were with his former wife, Vicki (Fallon) Heebner, grandchildren Layla Jade Heebner and Quintin Cayleb Heebner, niece Lisa Mordhorst and nephews Karl Mordhorst and Jim Taylor.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Elk's National Foundation, 2750 N. Lakeview Ave., Chicago, Ill 60614-2256.

Cemetery: Evergreen Cemetery

Location: Munson-Lovetere Woodbury

Services: Burial with military honors will be held on Friday, August 23, 2013 at 11 a.m. in Evergreen Cemetery, 183 North St., Watertown, CT.

Visitation: Calling hours will be held on Thursday, August 22, from 5-7 p.m. at the Woodbury Funeral Home of Munson-Lovetere, 2 School St., Woodbury, CT.
