Galbo

Mr. Richard Joseph Galbo, age 82, of Southbury, Connecticut passed away on December 24, 2013. Richard was born on July 16, 1931 in Menominee, Michigan to the late Joseph and Edna (Beekler) Galbo. He was a 1949 graduate of Menominee High School and graduated from the University of Iowa. On August 11, 1951 he married Patricia Lee Clermont at the 1st Baptist Church in Menominee.
He served in the US Navy during the Korean conflict. In 1955 he worked for the Rand Corporation in Santa Monica, California followed by employment at the Hurricane Supersonic Test Track in Utah, then as a Technical Consultant for the military at Fort Huachuca, Arizona with the Ramo-Wooldridge Corporation. In 1963, he went to work for the IBM Corporation in Poughkeepsie, New York as a system and programming analyst, retiring in 1986.
In 1991, he moved back to Marinette. He was a member of the American Legion, Post 146, Menominee. Dick enjoyed gardening, reading, cycling, his dogs, and his walks in Henes Park. He moved back east in 2005.
Dick is survived by his wife of 62 years, Patricia. He is survived by one daughter, Cynthia (Tom) Nettleton of Southport, CT; son, Patrick Galbo of New Milford, CT; daughter in law, Barbara Adams of Wolcott, CT and son, Mark (Jessica) Galbo of Telluride, CO. He is further survived by six grandchildren, Shaun (Kristen) Nettleton and Danielle Nettleton of CT, Miles, Sam, Arabella and Joseph Galbo of CO, two great grandsons, Jack and Finn Nettleton, a sister in law, Janet Galbo of Libertyville, ILL. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Don and Ralph.
