Dr. Richard A. Ern, 91, of Southbury, passed away on September 11, 2012 at Danbury Hospital after a short illness. Richard was born in New York City to August Frederick Ern and Louise Schaefer Ern on February 13, 1921 and married Frances Prosser of Goshen, NY in 1950. During WWII he worked for Pratt & Whitney in their Glider plant in Deep River CT and later served in the US Army Air Corps as a gunnery instructor. He then worked in private dental practice in Scarsdale, NY for over 30 years before retiring to Charlottesville, VA and then Southbury, CT. As an avid traveler and photographer, Richard traversed North America with his wife Frances in an RV. Just before he became ill, he had taken a trip to Germany with his wife and elder son's family.
