Richard Dilley, 80, passed away on May 24, 2025 at Yale New Haven Hospital after a long battle with sinus cancer. Rich was born in Derby, CT on October 30, 1944 to Harold and Anna (Dytko) Dilley. Rich was the beloved husband of Adele (Chatzinoff) Dilley.
Rich stayed close to his roots throughout his life. He grew up in Oxford and graduated from Southbury High School. He lived most of his adult life in Southbury.
Rich owned Dilley Floors LLC for over 50 years where he was a craftsman who set a high standard through hard work and honesty. Over the years he employed well over 100 people and supplied many of the wood floors that are still in houses across Connecticut today.
Rich is survived by his wife, Adele, his daughters, Regina Martin and Renee Anderson, his stepsons Jason Morroni and Michael Morroni (Franziska), sister Pearl Molsick, brother Andrew Dilley, 7 grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews including Cindy who spent many hours at his bedside.
Rich was predeceased by his parents Harold and Anna, his sisters Loretta Riccitelli and Carol Iannucci, and his beloved dogs, Frosty, Spade, Rocky, Pebbles, and Daisy.
His quick wit and sharp mind will be missed by his many friends. He enjoyed tennis, boating, and cheering on the Yankees and casinos.
Contributions can be made in lieu of flowers to American Cancer Society (Hope Lodge), the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, or animal rescue organizations.
Calling hours will be Sunday June 1, 2025 from 4:00 – 6:00 PM with a prayer service being held the next morning, Monday June 2, 2025 at 10 AM at Munson Lovetere Funeral Home, 235 Main St. N., Southbury. Burial will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery.
