IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Richard
Cobb
February 13, 1944 – January 27, 2019
Richard (Dick) Cobb, 74, of Woodbury, CT, and Falmouth, ME, passed away suddenly, in his sleep, on January 27th, 2019 in Woodbury.
Dick was born in 1944 in Worcester, MA to parents Richard Cobb and Barbara Damon Cobb. The Cobbs were a family of educators and Dick became a distinguished, and well-loved, educator himself. Dick graduated from Bowdoin College and remained strongly connected to the school throughout his life. For over 40 years, Dick taught Latin to students at Taft School in Watertown, CT. At Taft, Dick had a deeply positive influence on countless students and faculty. Dick had many friends and enjoyed traveling the world to visit and to play golf. When his mother, Barbara, was alive, he often traveled with her to visit National Parks. Dick spent his summers at the Cobb family home in Falmouth, ME. He was well known by his neighbors for being a good neighbor and a loving friend. Dick had a sharp wit, a ready smile and a kind heart. He will be greatly missed. Dick was often seen carrying a lacrosse stick used to throw balls for his beloved German Shepherds.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Suzanne Cobb Platt. Dick is survived by his nephew, Anthony Platt, 55, of Corona, CA, his niece, Bonnie Platt Berger, 53, of Saint Paul, MN, great-niece, Melody Platt of College Park, MD, great-nephew Damon Platt of Corona, CA and great-nephew Benjamin Berger of Saint Paul, MN.
There is a celebration of Dicks life planned for Alumni Day on the Taft Campus, Saturday May 11, 2019 and a private memorial in Maine at the families convenience.
Munson Lovetere Funeral Home assisted with the arrangements.
