Richard Carl (Dick) Swanson, 74, of New Preston, left us on June 4, 2026, at New Milford Hospital. Born on August 9, 1951, the son of Ernest and Janice Swanson, Dick graduated from Washington High School and, over the years, held various jobs before finding his passion as a painter in the construction industry. After retirement, he ventured to Maine, where he embraced the outdoors, spending countless hours fishing and kayaking. His adventurous spirit then took him to Nevada, where he lived for eight years. As his health began to decline, Dick returned home to New Preston, where he spent his final days surrounded by love and support.

Dick is survived by his sister, Diane Swanson, of New Preston, and his best friend, Todd Buco, along with Todd's family from Arundel, Maine.

In honor of Dick's life, a Celebration will be held on July 8th from 4 PM to 7 PM at The American Legion Hall in Washington Depot. Family and friends are invited to gather, share stories, and celebrate the vibrant spirit of a man who will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
