Richard F. Bette, 81, husband of Betsey Rouse Bette of  Old Field Road died June 20, 2023 at home surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. Bette was born March 29, 1942 in the Bronx, New York, son of Theresa (Gmuer) and Francis Bette. He attended East Coast Aero Flight School in Lexington MA, before  starting his career in communications. He worked for the telephone company for over 38 years starting with the Woodbury Telephone Company and eventually retiring from SBC. Richard had lived in Southbury for 80 years.

He was a member of Sacred Heart Church, The Knights of Columbus, The Connecticut National Guard, The Southbury Fire Department, The Heritage Village Golf Club and The Oxford Greens Golf Club. Richard was also on the Zoning Board of Appeals, Town of Southbury.

Richard had many hobbies such as playing golf with his buddies, driving the Southbury Senior Center bus around town, and seeing people off to their destination by bringing them to the airport. Enjoying the company of those he drove around gave him great pleasure.

Besides his wife of 55 years he leaves two sons Richard F. Bette Jr. and Robert Bette. Three grandchildren Robert F. Bette Jr. (RJ), Avery Rose Bette and Christopher Wilson. His brothers Stephen (Marybeth), Paul (Maureen) and sister Margaret (Dick) Kanning.

Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
