Obituary

Southbury- Richard "Dick" Aronheim passed away, leaving behind a lifetime of love, laughter, and generosity.

Richard was larger than life, with a heart as big as his sense of humor. He could light up a room in minutes, charming friends, family, and even strangers with his quick wit and boundless enthusiasm. Whether selling, fundraising, or simply telling a joke, he had a way of bringing people together.

A devoted husband, Richard adored his wife, Gloria, and never missed an opportunity to express how much he admired her talents, beauty, and strength. As a father, Richard made sure each of his children felt uniquely loved and cherished and had an extraordinary ability to make them feel like they were his favorite in his own special way. He loved his children-in-law, embracing them fully as part of his family and considering them his own. His bond with his grandchildren was equally special, and Richard adored spending time with them, finding creative and meaningful ways to engage them. Richard's deep love for his family was the center of his world, and he made sure they knew how much they meant to him. He cherished his extended family and treasured every gathering, celebration, and holiday, always bringing joy and enthusiasm to each occasion.

Richard began his career at Hadley Furniture Company with his father and four brothers, all five carrying the initials REA, which led to all sorts of mischief throughout their lives. The four brothers eventually opened Classic House Furniture but eventually went their separate ways. Richard and Gloria later opened their own businesses, Gloria Richards Designs and Gloria Richards Lighting. He was the master of turning anything into something, often bragging, "I can make that into a lamp!" He later transitioned into real estate and mortgage lending, growing his circle of influence and turning professional connections into lifelong friends.

Richard was a true prankster, always bringing laughter wherever he went. Whether telling the same joke a hundred times or pulling playful pranks, he had an unmatched ability to make everyone laugh. His infectious humor and love for mischief were central to his personality. Richard's jokes, pranks, and unforgettable laugh will live on in the countless stories shared by those who loved him.

Richard was full of energy, passion, and diverse interests. Whether it was cruising on his boat, riding his motorcycle, enjoying vacations with family and friends, or spending a day on the golf course, he was always on the go and always surrounded by the people he loved. Richard was also deeply committed to giving back, dedicating time and resources to philanthropic causes close to his heart. He was an active supporter of Beth El Synagogue, the JCC, and the Lions Club, and he spent years raising money for and participating in the Pan-Mass Challenge, even riding at the age of 72. His vibrant lifestyle, combined with his selfless giving, made Richard someone who touched many lives in both personal and meaningful ways.

Richard was predeceased by his beloved wife, Gloria Aronheim, who passed away on May 12, 2024, as well as his parents and brothers. He is survived by his children, Amy Fradkin (Gregg Fradkin), Marnie Aronheim (Craig Walder), and Jeff Aronheim (Nhi Aronheim); and his grandchildren, David "DJ" Fradkin, Alec Fradkin, Jake Rockhill, Max Rockhill, Max Aronheim, and Sarah Aronheim. He will be deeply missed but forever cherished.
