Rees Klemish, of Southbury, passed away on December 26th from COVID-19 during a fight with cancer at the age of 73. Daughter of Peter W. May and Audrey Jane May, she was born on August 30, 1949 in East Islip, NY where she grew up. After high school, she worked at Macy's to fund her own education at Farmingdale State College from which she graduated with an associate's degree in chemistry. As a result, she had a life-long fondness for Macy's for providing her that opportunity.

Rees initially worked in the chemistry lab at Farmingdale but after the birth of her son she worked full-time as a homemaker for several years. She then started a second career as an executive administrative assistant working at several different companies, including Dow Jones and Hearst Publishing where she worked until her retirement in 2017. It was during this period that she converted to Judaism and joined Congregation B'nai Tikvah in central New Jersey where she stayed a lifelong member.

She moved to Heritage Village in 2012 in preparation for retirement to fulfill a long-time wish to live in New England. Rees loved to read, shop in craft shows in the region and relax on the deck of her home. She was a compassionate person who treasured all of the friends that she made over the years.

Rees was predeceased by her parents, her brother Jack May and her beloved cats Sweetheart and Bear. She leaves behind her son, David Klemish and his wife Agnes Cheung.

A memorial gathering will be held on Sunday, January 8th from 1 until 4 p.m., with a memorial service at 2 p.m. at Munson-Lovetere Funeral Home, 235 Main Street North, Southbury. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude's (www.stjude.org) or The CT Humane Society (www.cthumane.org).
