Southbury -
Mr. Raymond E. Upson, 88, of Southbury died Wednesday October 11th at The Lutheran Home. He was the widower of Helen E. (Bragg) Upson.
Mr. Upson was born November 6, 1917 in Waterbury, son of the late Fred and Esther (Nelson) Upson. He was educated in the Waterbury Schools, and worked for CL & P until his retirement in 1982. He was an Army veteran of World War 2, serving as a Technical Sergeant with Battery A, 211th Anti-aircraft Artillery Automatic Weapons Battalion until 1945. He was stationed in New Guinea. He was a 54 year resident of Woodbury serving as a member of the American Legion. His interests included reading, walking, making muzzle loader rifles, and playing the organ.
He is survived by a stepmother Ruth Upson and stepsister Mrs. John (Mary) Meli, both of Lebanon, CT, two daughters, Darlene Upson of Woodbury, and Sandra (Sam) Parmiter of Convent Station, NJ, two granddaughters, Tara Parmiter of New York City, and Heather Ranz of Cuba, NY, two great-grandchildren, Heidi and Erik Ranz of Cuba, NY, and several nieces and nephews.
