Obituary


Raymond L. Drapko, Sr., 72, of Oxford, passed away unexpectedly Friday, October 3, 2014 at his home after a courageous 22 year battle with Parkinson's Disease. He was the beloved husband of Janet (Kluczinsky) Drapko for 48 years. Ray was born February 16, 1942 in Waterbury, son of the late Charles and Frances (Kubilis) Drapko. He graduated from Naugatuck High School and Tufts University. He held various management and research & development positions in the food industry and retired from Subway World Headquarters in 2007.
Ray served the Town of Oxford as a member of the Board of Selectman for ten years, two years as First Selectman and fourteen years as a member of Planning and Zoning. Eventually the effects of his illness prevented him from continuing to serve his adopted home town. He was also a co-founder of the Oxford Parent's Council, which has evolved into the present day Oxford PTO. Besides his wife he is survived by his son, RJ Drapko of Oxford, sister-in-law Cindy McFadden of Oxford, and several cousins, including Judy Irwin of Milford.

Memorials: Memorial contributions may be made to St. Thomas the Apostle Church Endowment Fund, the Oxford Ambulance Corps or to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Disease Research, through the funeral director.

Services: Private funeral services were held at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Oxford with burial in Southford Cemetery.
