Obituary


SOUTHBURY- Raili Klee passed way at Danbury Hospital on April 4, 2014 after a courageous battle with cancer. Raili was born in Helsinki, Finland on December 11, 1937, the daughter of Armas and Karin Pohjola.
She worked as an interpreter at the American Embassy in Helsinki where she met her future husband, Herbert Klee, Jr. Raili and Herbert, a career diplomat with the American Foreign Service, were married in 1962 and began a life of world travel that included stations in Africa, Asia, Europe and the United States. Upon retirement, the Klees settled in Brevard, North Carolina where they enjoyed golfing and entertaining. Raili relocated to Southbury in 2009. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and her dogs. She had a wonderful sense of humor and a sharp wit that won her many friends throughout her travels .Raili was predeceased by her husband Herbert in 1992. She is survived by her sister, Marita Goodwin and her nephew Raymond Goodwin of Southbury, her nephew Kevin Klee of Washington state and her niece Tracy Klee of Chicago. She also leaves a dear childhood friend, Aune Lahti in Finland.
