Pierre Juliard, age 86, of Southbury, CT passed away on May 16, 2025.

Born on March 21, 1939, in Brussels, Belgium, Pierre was the son of Alexander Juliard and Andrée Freedman. He was a graduate of Westtown School in West Chester, PA, Franklin & Marshall  College in Lancaster, PA and later attended Cornell University in Ithaca, NY where he earned a PhD in 18th Century Intellectual History of the Enlightenment.

Pierre's career spanned both academia and industry, but if you were to ask about his professional accomplishments, he would wave them away and point to the close relationships, and the life experiences he shared with his family and friends. He valued people over things, generosity over personal gain, and above all, he loved to share his life with others.

He is survived by his wife, Christine Juliard , his children, Jeff Juliard and Wendy (Juliard) Matthews, his grandchildren, and a host of other people whose lives he touched with his kindness, his friendship, and his boundless good humor.

Pierre's amazing life will be celebrated privately by his loving family and close friends.

There is no better way to honor Pierre Juliard's memory than to appreciate your blessings while surrounded by people you care for. In lieu of flowers or donations, you are encouraged to gather with those that you love and raise a toast to the wonderful fortune we all had to have known him, and to have had him in our lives. The poverty he leaves this world in by his absence is far outweighed by the joy with which he infused it.
