Pierce Vincent Brennan, 99 of Southbury, CT passed away on Monday, October 7, 2024. Devoted husband for 68 years to the late Jane Theresa Brennan of Southbury, CT, previously of Yonkers, NY. Dear son of the late Alice Virginia Meehan and Thomas Gibney Brennan of the Bronx, NY. Beloved father of Nancy Gallivan and her husband Mark of Walpole, MA; Marianne Haynes of Madison, CT and son-in-law Thomas Haynes of Guilford, CT; and Thomas Brennan and his wife Mindy of Asheville, NC. Devoted grandfather to his nine grandchildren: Patrick Haynes and his wife Jacqueline, Jessica Greely and her husband Matt, Adam Peters and his wife Vickie, Mark Gallivan, Ali Gallivan, Trevor Haynes, Suzy Gallivan, Annie Gallivan and Maggie Haynes. Treasured great-grandfather to his six great-grandchildren: Aiden, Claire, Landon, Ava, Chase, and Hudson. Loving brother to Suzy Gallagher and her late husband Charlie of Yonkers, NY. Adored brother-in-law of John Darken and his wife Sheila of Tappan, NY. Also survived by his precious six nieces and three nephews, who he loved and adored as his own children.
Pierce was an intelligent, caring, and devoted husband and father. He entered heaven in time to celebrate his two favorite October birthdays: his mother's on October 8th and his "Dolly's" on October 28th.
Pierce was born in the Bronx, NY on June 2, 1925. He was an intelligent man and a graduate of Our Lady of Angels Parochial School, Regis High School, Fordham Prep, Fordham University and St. John's Law School. Pierce served honorably in the Marine Corps for three years following high school, serving stateside in North Carolina and Arkansas. He enjoyed a long career as an attorney at his practice in the Bronx, serving the Kingsbridge community where he grew up and was such an important part of his life.
Along with his wife Jane, Pierce led a life of service to others. Individually and together they were the most loving and generous people, who always put others' needs before their own. They graciously and quietly helped so many people in small but important ways throughout their lives. Pierce led a life of true devotion to his churches, Our Lady of Angels, St. Eugenes, and more recently Sacred Heart and St. Thomas the Apostle.
Pierce loved spending time with his precious wife and family, supporting his children, and watching his grand and great grandchildren grow. He was a strong, motivated member of the Watermark community, and was an avid trivia, poker, chess, scrabble and rummikub player. His family is eternally grateful to the staff at the Watermark and the wonderful Visiting Angels and Accent Care Hospice team who cared for them dutifully and compassionately. He will be remembered for his gentleness, faith, and unending love and support to family and friends.
