Obituary


Phoebe Tilton Lanoie, 94, formerly of Waterbury and Bethlehem, died peacefully Friday March 22, 2013 at Watertown Convalerium. She was the wife of the late Raymond Lanoie.
Mrs. Lanoie was born January 9, 1919 in East Orange, New Jersey, daughter of the late Herbert and Frances (Seely) Zeliff. She was an alumnus of Pratt Institute. She worked many years as a teacher's aide at Walsh School in Waterbury and a nanny to many important families. Mrs. Lanoie was a longtime member of the Waterville Bible Church and the First Congregational Church in Bethlehem.
Mrs. Lanoie loved reading and words. Her favorite author was Ogden Nash. She also loved the spoken word; from puns to palindromes. She enjoyed talk radio (her favorite, Bob Steele), the ocean, the sun, and she had a wonderful sense of humor.
She is survived by her children, Raymond A. Lanoie and his wife, Beverly of Hebron and Lucille F. Capuano and her husband Ralph of Woodbury, 3 grandchildren, Ralph R. Capuano, Judy Bowen Pezza and Larkin Conroy - Lanoie, and three great grandchildren, Francesca, Steven and Blake. She was predeceased by a daughter, Nancy Lanoie Bowen, 4 brothers, Herbert, William, Walter and Loring Zeliff, and a grandson, Daniel Capuano.
