Penny Michelle Novello

Penny Michelle Gold Novello, wife, daughter, sister, mother, and grandmother, passed away in Danbury, CT on Thursday, January 29, 2026 at the age of 70.

Penny was born on August 29, 1955 to Beatrice and Jonah Gold in The Bronx, NY. She was well-loved, voted most likely to take down a rampaging elephant, when she graduated as Valedictorian from Hunter College High School. In College she was famous for scathing rebukes of corrupt politicians and graduated Summa Cum Laude from Hofstra University.

While attending college, she met Bob, the brother of her roommate, Susan Novello. When she realized that this was a man who she could see eye to eye with, the two fell in love, were married and sired four wonderful hobbits. Initially, a stay-at-home mom, Penny’s ambition took her into the world of Tupperware and she quickly became the highest grossing salesperson on Long Island, for several consecutive years. Her Tupperparties are celebrated as the stuff of suburban sales legends. Once she felt her children were capable of self-sufficiency, she joined her husband in running his Hardware Empire.

Later on, Penny and her husband retired to Hawaii, on the island of Maui, where they enjoyed many years of fun in the sun. In Kihei they were known as the greatest HOA managers and even found Jimmy Hoffa’s body, hidden in the grounds of their community, the Meadowlands of Kihei. After 18 years of surfing and rescuing entangled humpback whales (megaptera Novaeangliae) Bob and Penny returned to the East Coast to enjoy their golden years surrounded by grandchildren.

Penny is survived by her sister Sandra and Paul Medina, her brother Baruch and Sara Gold, her husband Bob and their children Jessica and Brian, Daniel and Tobi, Jason, Michael and Jacqueline, and their eight grandchildren. Her loss shall be lamented, and she will be lionized by her extended family.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Munson-Lovetere Funeral Home on Sunday, February 8 from 1:00PM-4:00PM, with a service starting at 3:00PM In lieu of flowers, she would appreciate donations being made to the Brigid Alliance.
