Penelope R. Meek, 77, of Woodbury, CT, passed peacefully in her home on January 10, 2015, surrounded by her family. She was the beloved wife of Thomas B. Meek Jr. Besides her husband, she is survived by her two children, Thomas B. Meek III of Cambridge, MA and Amy Elizabeth Mayo of Savannah, GA and four grandchildren.
Born in the Sunset Farms area of West Hartford, Penny enjoyed the country life. She and her family resided in Oxford, Newtown and Woodbury over the years. She loved animals and owned horses, goats, dogs, cats, birds and various other pets. Penny was happiest when caring for her 'critters'.
Always an animal advocate, Penny was active as a 4-H leader and served for many years as an officer of the Spay and Neuter Association of Newtown. She rescued many animals and was often sought for her extensive knowledge of animal care. In addition, Penny was a wonderful gardener and was famous for her tomato hybrids.

Services: A memorial service will be held Saturday January 17, 2015 at 1pm at Munson-Lovetere Funeral Home, 2 School Street, Woodbury, CT.
