Peggy Ann "Pan" Ruland Seaman, 84, of Pomperaug Woods died Friday September 13, 2013 at Waterbury Hospital. She was the wife of James G. Seaman. Mrs. Seaman was born January 5, 1929 in Huntington, Long Island, NY, daughter of Peggy Catherine Fairbairn. Her biological father, Arthur Conklin died in an aircraft accident in Newark, NJ, when Pan was approximately 2 years old. Her mother re-married Francis E. Ruland who adopted Pan which resulted in Pan's adoption of Ruland as her surname.
She was a graduate of Huntington Schools, Drew Seminary Preparatory School in Carmel, NY and Bradford College in Bradford, Ma. Pan married James G. Seaman in 1951 and became the mother of a daughter Deborah Hayes and son Robert Dudley both of whom were born in Lima, Peru. Following later international assignments, Pan and her husband moved to Middlebury, CT, and later to Southbury.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Pomperaug Woods Founder's Fund, 80 Heritage Road, Southbury Ct 06488.
Location: Munson-Lovetere Southbury
Services: A memorial service will be held in Pomperaug Woods, 80 Heritage Road in October. Burial will be held at the St. James Episcopal Church, Long Island, NY.
