Obituary

Mrs. Margaret E. (Peggy) Mathison, 63, Widow of Donald S. Mathison, passed away peacefully and joined her loving partner of 38 years, on Saturday November 29, 2008, at her home on Kettletown Road. She was born in Danbury on February 25, 1945 a daughter of the late William and Ellen (O'Sullivan) O'Shea. Peggy grew up in Sandy Hook, graduated from Newtown High School and started her family in Southbury. She lived, mentored, and took great care of her friends and growing family, which was her legacy.

Peggy nurtured her friends, family, and community through good food and company from family dinners to Pop-Warner Football concessions. She was very active in her children's lives, and along with raising her family, she volunteered throughout the community; active in School Fund Raisers, Junior Achievement, Sunday School Teaching, Girl Scouts, and Boy Scouts, while also finding time to work at different jobs, one of which was creating the balloon, with her friend Joan, used in a James Bond movie. She coordinated all of the family vacations from Rhode Island to Aruba and even found time to journey with her traveling companions and friends to Europe and abroad.

Peggy will be sadly missed by her children Edward Mathison of Naugatuck, Richard Mathison of Southbury, William Mathison and wife Susan of Aiken, SC, Donna Adshade and husband Gordon of Watertown, Pamela Mathison-Morales and husband Heroindo (Jr), of West Springfield, MA, Michael Mathison, of Sandy Hook, and her canine companion B.J. She also leaves behind her ten grandchildren, Crystal, Billy, Samantha, Kimberly, Brian, Olivia, Gordon, Alexander, Lindsey and Maggie as well as one grand dog, Oscar, her Mother-In-Law, Eva Mathison, Brothers-In-Law Kenneth and Robert Mathison, along with all of her nieces, nephews, and many lifetime friends. Predeceased to Peggy is her sister Elaine and Father-In-Law Sigurd Mathison.
