IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Paul Robert
Bruch, M.D.
August 3, 1923 – May 10, 2015
Paul Robert Bruch, M.D., age 91 years, passed away peacefully at Waterbury Hospital on Sunday May 10 in the presence of his loving family. Paul was born in Detroit, Michigan on August 3, 1923, son of Paul and Ruth (Van Burger) Bruch.
He was raised in San Francisco, CA and attended UC Berkley. He enlisted in the Army during WWII and fought with the 86th Infantry in Europe. After the war, he graduated from Wesleyan University and then attended Yale Medical School, graduating in 1951. Shortly thereafter, he returned to Yale and completed the requirements and became a world class pediatrician.
After spending time in NH and CA, he moved to Southbury in 1960 with his family and was employed at Southbury Training School for 26 years. He also worked in the Waterbury Hospital ER for 9 ½ years. After retirement, because he always loved his first Model A, he bought and rebuilt a 1930 Model A which he and his wife, Pauline, could be seen driving around town. Paul and Pauline were active members of Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church in Monroe. They were also members of the Right to Life Movement, including three years when he was President.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline, of 61 years in 2011 and his son Peter. He is survived by his 5 children: Diane, Paul, Mary, Ruthie and Martha, 36 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren. He was a wonderful father and grandfather, who loved spending time with his family and will be missed by all who knew him.
The family would like to thank The Compassionate Companions for providing wonderful care to our father for the past 4 years and to the staff at Waterbury Hospital for their support and care.
