Pamela A.

Markham

April 25, 1959 – June 26, 2023

Obituary

Pamela Markham was a caring wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend. She passed away on June 26, 2023 at the young age of 64, after a fierce and courageous 20 month battle with colon cancer, surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor her legacy by living their lives to the fullest. She was born to Helen and Edward Markham on April 25, 1959 in Ann Arbor Michigan. As a Marine Corps family, they moved to many places, eventually settling in Stratford, Connecticut. As the youngest sister, she was loved immensely by her siblings, Patt, Michael and Eddie. Pam loved learning, earning degrees in Media Studies and Accounting from Sacred Heart University, a degree in mortuary science from Lincoln College of New England, a degree in Criminal Justice/Investigations from the University of New Haven and a Master's Degree in Public Health from Bay Path University. She was employed as an accountant for many years, and worked alongside her husband in their real estate ventures. She and her husband Sam shared three amazing, talented and loving children, Harvey, Ryan and Daniel. Her children were the lights of her life and she loved them beyond measure. Pam had a sense of humor, and laugh, that rivaled none. She kept her sense of humor even in the end, making us laugh when we were heartbroken. She loved dogs, and horses, and Chai Frappes with whipped cream. We can imagine her beloved dogs Suki and Rosie running to her in heaven. She loved line dancing at Cadillac Ranch, hitting favorite restaurants with friends and family,  and get-aways with her kids. She loved travel, including recent trips to Missouri, to take Ryan to graduate school, a trip to Provincetown with all her kids, and loved OBX and seeing the pirates. Throughout her last days, she even joked about escaping and running off to Vegas with us. Pam was the strongest person we know, and battled against the odds, giving us all more time with her. She never lost her love of life, or sense of humor. Even during her last days at hospice, she laughed with us at our silly jokes, asked to wear wolf ears from Great Wolf Lodge, and donned a light up lei as we celebrated Daniel's high school graduation. She looked at each day as a gift, and truly appreciated all of her time with family and friends. At the time of her death, the heavens literally opened up with a beautiful rainstorm, telling us she was OK. Pam was embraced in heaven by her mom Helen, dad Edward, brother Michael, nephew Michael, and many other family, friends (and pets) who went before her. She leaves behind her husband Sam, and three children Harvey, Ryan and Daniel. She was loved immensely by her sister Patt (Dom Squicciarini), brother Eddie, her  nieces Isa (Brant Keller), Lea (Adam DiVito), nephew Jack (Jennifer Squicciarini) and their families, and her step-mother Charlotte Markham. Special thanks to her healthcare providers who provided care to Pam since she was diagnosed, especially:  Dr. Ben Schlechter of Dana Farber in Boston, Dr. Stacey Stein of Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale, the team at Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale, and Regional Hospice Center for Comfort and Healing, including especially Social Worker Laura Barbieri and Nurse Bien who supported all of us in her final moments. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Regional Hospice, Danbury, CT, in Pam's memory.
