Obituary


Ormonde H. "Skip" Osborn, 77, of Woodbury, died peacefully Tuesday, March 1, 2011, at Waterbury Hospital surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Janet Z. Osborn.

Mr. Osborn was born on August 15, 1933 in Waterbury, son of the late Ormonde and Marion (Cooper) Osborn. He grew up and attended schools in Watertown. He served in the U.S.Army during the Korean War. Mr. Osborn owned and operated Skip and Cliff's Service Station in Watertown with Cliff Williams. He was a Connecticut State Trooper for 27 years before his retirement.

He enjoyed fishing, camping and riding his motorcycle, especially with the Blue Knights. In his retirement, he and Jan traveled many happy miles in their RV. He was also a 32 degree Mason. He loved spending time with his family and completing his many projects around the house and was a communicant of St. Paul's Church in Woodbury.

Besides his wife of 55 years, he leaves two daughters, JoAnn and her husband David Ring of Woodbury and Lisa (Buesser) and her husband Jeff Paddock of Watertown, a son Ormonde "Chip" Osborn and his wife Kathie of Oxford. Mr. Osborn was predeceased by son Jeffrey Hunter Osborn.

He is also survived by his sister Pam and her husband Fred Gyuricsko of Watertown, two brothers, Keith Osborn of Florida and Kevin Osborn of Woodbury and his brother in-law Grey Zane and his wife Lois of Woodbury. He leaves six grandsons, Matthew and David Barrow of Georgia, Zachary Buesser of Watertown, Timothy and Daniel Osborn of Oxford and Bruce Harrelson of Woodbury.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Woodbury Volunteer Ambulance Association, P.O. 581, Woodbury, CT 06798 or to the charity of the donor's choice.

Cemetery: New North Cemetery

Location: Munson-Lovetere Woodbury

Funeral: St. Paul's Episcopal Church of Woodbury

Services: A memorial service will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 12, 2011 at St. Paul's Church, 294 Main St. South, Woodbury. A private burial will be in New North Cemetery in the spring.

Visitation: There are no calling hours.
