WATERTOWN-On March 22, 2009, Olive Edna (Guy) Metcalf peacefully passed away surrounded by her family after a short battle with cancer. She was the daughter of the late William Thomas and Olive Ethel (Simmons) Guy. She was the widow of Fred L. Metcalf.
Olive was born December 23, 1932 in Brooklyn, New York. Her family moved to Connecticut when she was young and Olive spent most of her high school years attending Woodbury High School while a resident of Southbury. She was a graduate of Bridgeport Central High School. Olive and Fred married in 1952 and moved to Woodbury where they made their home for thirty-six years. After the passing of her husband, Olive eventually moved to Watertown and lived with her companion. Jack Hymel, for the past 16 years.
Olive was always active with her children. She was a Girl Scout leader, a Sunday school teacher at the North Congregational Church in Woodbury, and also was a spectator at the hundreds of athletic games her children played. She worked at the Denominator Company in Woodbury until her retirement.
Olive is survived by one son: David Metcalf and his partner June Bassett of Southbury; and four daughters, Sherry Morgan and her husband Thomas of Watertown, Gail Choquette and her husband Robert of Windsor, Katherine Simmons and her husband Eugene of Woodbury, and Joyce LeBlanc and her husband Robert of Derby; her five brothers and sisters: William and Robert Guy of South Carolina, Richard Guy of Pennsylvania, Patricia Telesca and Christina Bruneau of Bristol; twelve grandchildren: Jennifer Jackson, Jessica Kerchner, Lee and Daniel Morgan, Diane Norton, Kelly Fox, Sarah, Adam, and Mark Simmons, David Metcalf, Jr., Eric Thomas, and Abby LeBlanc; and six great-grandchildren: William, Nickolas, Luke and Joseph Gibbons, and Kaylee and Emma Jackson.

Services: Her funeral will be held on Thursday, March 26th at 11: 00 am at the Munson-Lovetere Funeral Home, 2 School Street, Woodbury, Connecticut.
Visitation: Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday the 25th from 6: 00 to 8: 00 pm.
