Obituary

Norma S. Fleischer passed away on February 23, 2025 at the age of 93. She was the daughter of Elsie and Manuel Robbins of Stamford, Connecticut, and the devoted wife of the late Dr. Murray S. Fleischer. She was loved and admired by all, touching and inspiring the lives of everyone she knew. She will be missed dearly.

Norma raised her family in Mamaroneck, NY and then she and Murray moved to Naples, FL where they enjoyed swimming in the Gulf with the dolphins and traveling the world.  Norma loved spending time with her family and spent her summers in Heritage Village, Southbury, CT to be closer to her children and grandchildren. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.  She loved being able to attend her grandchildren's birthday parties, ballet recitals, plays and lacrosse games, always cheering her grandchildren on and being there for every family celebration.

After attending UCONN where she met the love of her life, Murray Fleischer, she went on to earn her masters in social work from Adelphi University, despite her earlier aspirations of being a concert pianist and her wonderful musical talent. She used her background in social work to pursue her passion for helping people by becoming a psychiatric social worker.  After first working at New York Psychiatric Hospital in White Plains, New York, she and her husband then devoted themselves to a career in marriage counseling and built their own practice in White Plains.

Norma loved swimming daily just like her mother, daughter and granddaughter.  Her favorite songs that she sang often before she passed were "You Are My Sunshine" and her father's favorite beloved song of "There Once Was a Man Named Michael Finnegan".  She was an avid cheesecake lover and loved healthy eating and making fruit salads for her grandchildren.

Norma is survived by and the beloved mother of Melissa Fleischer of Southbury and Melissa's husband Michael.  She was the loving grandmother to Jess Cocomazzi, Jared Cocomazzi, and Josh Danzig, also of Southbury. She is also survived by her son, Glen Fleischer and wife Karen, her grandchildren, Katie and Jenny, three great-grandchildren, and her two brothers Ronald and Robert Robbins.

Her funeral services will be held at 12:30pm on Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at Cedar Park Cemetery, 735 Forest Ave., Paramus, N.J. Shiva will be observed at 7 p.m. on Thursday, February 27, 2025 at Temple B'nai Israel, 444 Main Street North, Southbury, CT 06488.
