Neal J. Zimmerman, M.D., Z'L
passed away on the August 31.
Neal leaves behind his beloved wife Pauline and his beloved children Max and Alexis, friends, family and countless patients, colleagues, and his devoted office staff.
Neal was born July 13, 1955 on the Lower East Side, Manhattan.
Neal graduated from Penn State University and the Jefferson Medical College. Neal interned at Hahnemann Medical College, completed his residency in ophthalmology at the West Virginia University Eye Institute, and a retina fellowship at the New York Hospital / Weill Cornell Medical College .
Neal was the head of the Retina Service at West Virginia University School of Medicine and an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology. With great skill and dedication for decades, Neal practiced in Waterbury and Prospect.
Neal served as past president of B'Nai Israel and of the former Temple Israel. As an active member of the Jewish community, Neal sat on the Grants Committee of the Jewish Federation Foundation.

The Zimmerman family would like to express their thanks for the compassionate care at Smilow Cancer Hospital at Yale University. The Zimmerman family also expresses its gratitude to the Greater Waterbury Retina Staff medical community and to Naugatuck Valley Surgical Center.

Services: The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 2nd at Noon at B'nai Israel, 444 Main Street North, Southbury, CT. Burial will follow in Farband Cemetery, Morris, CT. Shiva will be observed at B'nai Israel at 7pm on Tuesday, September 2nd and Wednesday, September 3rd.
