Obituary


Nancy Dearborn Lovetere, 65, of Flanders Road died unexpectedly Sunday August 16th, 2009 at St. Mary's Hospital. She was the wife of Dr. John A. Lovetere. Nancy was born February 3rd, 1944 in Bath, Maine, daughter of the late Carl Revere and Ruth Ellen (Robinson) Dearborn, Jr.
She graduated from Morse High School, and Colby-Sawyer College in New London, NH. She was then recruited by the Central Intelligence Agency in Washington, D.C. where she met her husband who was attending dental school, before starting their life together in Woodbury, CT.
She has run five marathons, in addition to hundreds of road races, most recently winning fifth in her age division at the Beach to Beacon Road Race in Cape Elizabeth, Maine, two weeks ago.
She had interests in genealogy, sewing and photography, documentary film-making classes and historical research. The things she was most passionate about were her two grandchildren and a daily run.
Nancy worked on freelance pieces in the genre of "life writing." Her publications include a family genealogy article in the The Palm Beach Post and a contribution of rural data for A Summary History of Bath, Maine, 1850 to 2008. A memoir, illustrated with photographs and ephemera, is in the works. Her book on rural Bath history is scheduled to be published this year. In addition to the Maine Writers & Publishers Alliance, Nancy was a member of the Maine Maritime Museum; the Massachusetts, Connecticut and Maine Mayflower Descendants Societies; Sagadahoc Preservation, Incorporated; Maine Historical Society; West Bath Historical Society; Freeport Historical Society; NEARA (New England Antiquities Research Association); the New England Historic Genealogical Society; and Autism Speaks
