Nancy Hunicke Allen, age 63, of Roxbury, Connecticut, died Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at Danbury Hospital. Nancy was born on August 11, 1953, in North Adams, Massachusetts. She is the daughter of Barbara and Raymond Hunicke, who also reside in Roxbury, Connecticut.

Nancy graduated from the University of Rhode Island in 1975 with a B.S. in Home Economics and the highest distinction honors, Phi Kappa Phi and Omicron Nu. After graduating, Nancy and her husband Ken moved to Newport, Rhode Island, where she taught home economics at Seekonk High School for four years. The 1980 Seekonk year book was dedicated to her in her honor. Nancy and Ken then moved to Roxbury, Connecticut, where they raised their three children. Nancy volunteered at Camp Jonathon, a summer camp that helps children who have recently suffered from a significant family death, for many years. After raising her children, Nancy went back to school in 1999 and earned a Masters in Social Work from Southern Connecticut State University, where she also took extensive classes in Women's Studies. Nancy worked as a social worker in numerous area schools before retiring in 2010.

Nancy was preceded in death by her brother, Raymond P. Hunicke. She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Allen, and their three children, Trevor, Reid and Nora; her parents Barbara and Raymond L. Hunicke; and her siblings David Hunicke and Sara Warren. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Katie, and three grandchildren, Thomas, Patrick and Connor.

The funeral will take place on Monday, May 22nd at 3:30pm at the Roxbury Congregational Church.
