Obituary

Muriel McKay Short, 90, of Heritage Village, Southbury, Connecticut, died on Saturday, April 25, 2015 at her home. Muriel was born on July 23, 1924 in Hartford, Connecticut to John Thomas McKay and Inez Talmadge McKay.

Muriel attended the University of Connecticut at Storrs and the Flight School of United Airlines, for which she was a stewardess from 1946 to 1950. She later worked at Hamden (later Lafayette) National Bank in Hamden, Connecticut from 1965 to her retirement as an officer in 1988.

Muriel's early passion for travel remained through her life, and she was grateful to explore many parts of the world with friends and family. Muriel is survived by her sons Charles B. Short of New York City and Cornwall, Connecticut and John J. Short of Los Angeles, California and was predeceased by her daughter Susan of Westport, Connecticut.

There will be a memorial service for Muriel at a future date. The Southbury Funeral Home of Munson-Lovetere, 235 Main St. North Southbury is handling the arrangements. In lieu of gifts or flowers, contributions in Muriel's name may be made to the Connecticut Food Bank, P. O. Box 8686, New Haven, Ct. 06531.
