Obituary

It is with great sadness and broken hearts that the family of Monica "Nicky" Schneider, age 80, of Southbury, Ct share the news of her unexpected passing on Thursday, July 31st, 2025, following a brief illness. She was the loving wife of 58 years of marriage to Philip J. Schneider.

Monica was born on Christmas Day in 1944 in Norwalk Ct. She was the daughter of Anna and Edwin Hoyt. She graduated from Brien McMahon High School. Monica dedicated her life to her family as a homemaker, and loving caregiver to all her Grandchildren. This gave her daughters the peace of mind that enabled them to continue their careers knowing their children were being raised with a loving hand while they were at work. She was known to them and many others as Mimi, Mimert and Momica.

She was a lover of animals caring for the neighborhood's cats, dogs, and birds. She was often seen walking her friend's dog Buddy around the neighborhood with Phil. She loved her flock of crows that would come when she called, and she would often have a bag of leftovers in her purse to feed them when she got home.

She is survived by her loving husband Phil, and together they raised two daughters: Karen Kensek of Bethlehem and Greta Perrin (Gregg) of Middlebury. Nothing brought her more happiness than the time she spent with her cherished grandchildren where countless memories were made. Her Grandchildren were her world, Kyla Lambert (Chris) of New Hampshire, Hannah Houle (Matt) and soon to be Great Grandchild of Southbury, Brody Perrin of Southbury, Hallie Perrin of Florida, and Brynne Perrin of Middlebury.

She leaves behind her brother Gregory Hoyt and his wife Sally of Redding, she was like the sister Monica never had, as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Mark Hoyt of Norwalk.

She lived in her Southbury home that was built by her husband, Phil 55 years ago. Her neighbors became family that she cherished. Barb, Inez, Kathy, and Margaret are left to carry on her legacy.
