Mrs. Monica A (Normandin) Lafreniere, 87, passed away on Wednesday, March 25, 2015 at John Dempsey Hospital in Farmington, CT after an extended illness. She was the widow of Dr. Paul A. Lafreniere, D.D.S.
Monica was born in Grand-Mere, Quebec, Canada on October 9, 1927, the daughter of the late Hermenegilde (Gil) and Marie Anne (Normandin) Normandin. She graduated from Wilby High School in Waterbury and worked in the payroll department at the Waterbury Buckle Co. and as a semi-professional singer.
Monica dedicated herself to her family and volunteered as a Girl Scout leader, CCD teacher, church choir singer and member of the Good Shepherds of the Church of the Nativity. She also helped her elderly friends by driving them to appointments and other church functions. She was an avid singer who enjoyed performing and listening to a variety of music. Her favorites were opera and big band swing music. She also loved to travel, go to the Waterbury Symphony and local theatres, ballroom dancing, and reading, especially history.
Among her survivors are her four children, Diane (Lafreniere) and her husband, Daniel Polansky of Bethlehem, Andy Lafreniere of Southbury, Dr. Denis Lafreniere and his wife Mary of West Hartford, and Michael Lafreniere and his wife Renee of Bethlehem. Monica also leaves her brother Roch Normandin and his wife Lee of Prospect and her sister Denise Normandin and her companion Joan Sallies of New Haven. She also leaves eight loving grandchildren, Robert Polansky and his wife Angela, Lucien Lafreniere and his wife Jennifer, Marc Polansky, Thomas Polansky and his wife Danielle, Michelle Lafreniere, Anna, Emily and Paul Lafreniere. Her grandson Andre Lafreniere predeceased her. Monica is survived by four great grandchildren, Haley Lafreniere (and her mother Brenda DiCorpo), Sophie and Aria Lafreniere, and Evelyn Polansky.

Services: A Mass of Christian Burial for Monica A. Lafreniere will be held on Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at 10: 00 a.m. at the Church of the Nativity, 48 East St., Bethlehem, CT.
Visitation: Family and friends may call on Monday, March 30, 2015 from 5: 00 to 8: 00 p.m. at the Church of the Nativity.
