IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Michael E.
Springer
May 22, 1969 – February 27, 2022
Michael Edward Springer, 52, passed away peacefully, February 27, surrounded by his loving family, after a brief illness.
Born in Danbury, CT, to Russell and the late Kathryn (Tomlinson) Springer, Mike attended Southbury schools and Henry Abbott Technical High School where he learned the trade that would become his career, working as a highly skilled toolmaker for Platt Brothers, Barden Corporation and most recently Bauer, Inc. He was instinctively an excellent machinist with a sharp mind and sharper wit.
Mike was an avid and accomplished musician, performing in several rock and metal bands through the 1980s and 1990s and he continued to play keyboard recreationally, putting on impromptu garage band jams with his brother, old band mates and other musician friends, but with less spandex.
A history enthusiast, Mike researched many topics of historical significance, always interested in the smaller details that weren't as widely known. Mike also enjoyed boating, a good cigar, coin collecting, making random lists, sharing questionable memes and spending time with his brother Dave, and his other brother Dave.
Devoted and much-loved, he embraced his family and friends and thoroughly enjoyed all of the many casual gatherings for all occasions, large and small, throughout the years.
Mike is survived by his son, Ian, step-daughter, Jenn Reilly, father, Russell, brother and sister-law, Dave and Laura Springer, step-sister and brother-in-law Susan and Todd Gniadek, step-brother Dave Lawton, granddaughter Lily, nieces, Kaira, Kailyn and Rebekkah and nephews, Thomas and Jacob.
He was predeceased by his mother, Kathryn and step-mother, Ruth Ann.
A Celebration of Life gathering will take place March 5, from 1-5pm at The Lodge, 1455 Southford Rd in Southbury.
