Michael Luizzi, of Brookfield, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on January 31, 2025 (age 74) following a courageous five-year battle with Alzheimer's disease and primary progressive aphasia. A devoted family man, Michael was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather who took great joy in spending time with his loved ones. Known for his warm smile and infectious laugh – qualities that remained bright even through his illness – he brought joy to all who knew him. He was an avid golfer and basketball enthusiast who cherished poker nights with friends. Born and raised in Trenton, New Jersey to Michael and Gloria Luizzi, Michael pursued his education with dedication, graduating from Rutgers University before earning both an MBA and a Master's in Finance. His distinguished career in chemical logistics included leadership roles at prominent companies such as Union Carbide, Dow Chemical, and Odyssey Logistics. Michael is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Janet Luizzi; daughter, Megan Luizzi, and her partner, Jay Zimmerman; daughter, Erin Wallace, and her husband, Iain Wallace; grandchildren, Sam and Amelia Wallace; brother, Richard Luizzi, and his wife, Linda Luizzi, and their two children; and sister, Patti Haberstick, and her husband, Lew Haberstick, and their three children. A celebration of life will be held at a later date to be announced. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association (alz.org) in Michael's memory.
