SOUTHBURY- Mr. Michael Lerner, 88, of 176-A Heritage Village, died Saturday August 26, 2006 at the Lutheran Home of Southbury. He was the husband of Fay (Cobb) Lerner.
Mr. Lerner was born June 23, 1918 in New York, NY, son of the late Jacob and Lena (Schwartz) Lerner. Mr. Lerner retired from the New York Times, having been employed as a lineotype operator and proofreader for over 25 years. He enjoyed playing bridge, golf and tennis and also enjoyed painting and sculpting. He also enjoyed writing and published his memoir's titled "An Orphan's Journey" It was published through the Southbury Library made available for Books for the Blind in audio form. Mr. Lerner was a WW II US Army Air Corps Veteran.
Besides his wife of 39 years, he leaves a son Jack Lerner of NYC, NY, a brother Nat Lerner of Florida and a grandson Douglas Lerner of NYC, NY.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Leon and David Lerner.
