Obituary

Michael G. Douskey passed away on Sunday, February 12, 2023, surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

Mike was born on September 5, 1972, in New Milford, Connecticut. The son of Adam and Iona Douskey, with sibling Lisa, Mike remained a local resident of the area his entire life. He purchased his first home in New Preston, CT in 1993 and soon moved his high school sweat-heart, Jill, into the home.  They were married May 10th of 1997 and went on to have three amazing children: Connor, Nathan, and Madison.

One of the hardest working men around, Mike took tremendous pride in his work.  His passion for gardening and yardwork led to a career in property management and estate care.  He worked diligently for many years, forming strong bonds with his customers, while ensuring he could provide well for his family.

An avid athlete, Mike enjoyed playing softball and football in his spare time.  He was a strong competitor and played on local leagues for most of his life. Countless tournaments and championships were won with his "boys" by his side.

Mike also enjoyed outdoor activities and camping with friends and family.  Many summers were spent in Copake, NY at their seasonal campsite. Mike always enjoyed this time, as the most important part of his life was being with those he loved.

Always the life of the party, Mike was known for his laugh, his love of music, and having a cold Bud Light in hand for himself and his friends.

Mike also found great peace taking Sunday rides in his 1976 Land Cruiser or the convertible BMW with his wife by his side, and his dogs Cooper and Maya in the back seat.

In addition to his wife, parents, and children, he is survived by aunts and uncles, many sisters and brothers, nieces, and nephews and many, many beloved friends.

The viewing be held at Munson-Lovetere Funeral Home on Friday, February 17th between the hours of 5:00 to 7:00pm.  The Funeral home is located at 235 Main Street North, Southbury, CT 06488.  The family will be having a private burial.

In lieu of flowers, in Mike's own words about his wife and children, "No presents for me, I have all I need." In Mike's honor, please spend quality time with your family and live each day with love in your heart.

In the end, it's not the years in your life that count. It's the life in your years. -  Abraham Lincoln
