Maurice W. (Moe) Finn, 85, passed away at St. Francis Hospital on Saturday December 17, 2022. Moe was born in Winsted, CT on July 26, 1937 to Jennie (Lovetere) and Maurice Finn. He was a graduate of St. Anthony School and The Gilbert School, Class of 1954.
Moe served in the US Army and was a Military Policeman at West Point for 2 years. Under supervision of Henry Benner, Moe became a Master Farrier. He worked as a Farrier for over 40 years. While living in NY, he had shops in both Yonkers and Roosevelt Raceways. After moving to California, Moe traveled from ranch to ranch practicing his trade. In addition to his love of horses, he had many pets he cared for.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Margaret, his sister Betty Bequillard, brother-in-law Arthur Kanning and his mother-in-law and father-in-law Agnes and Arthur Kanning.
Moe is survived by his sister Joanne Casey, brothers-in-law Martin Casey and Bob Bequillard, sisters-in-law Jean Penning and Jane Kanning, special friends Henry and Lois Benner, Dr. Rick Ackerman and Kathy, Barbara Kennedy and family and his First Friday Poker Group. Moe was also survived by many beloved nieces and nephews who loved hearing "Uncle Moe" stories.
The family wishes to thank fellow residents of Clockmaker Hill Condos, Patty Devanny, St. Francis Hospital Staff and Heart Failure Unit for their kindness.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on May 20, 2023 a 11 A.M. at St. Joseph Church in Winsted, CT. with burial in the new St. Joseph Cemetery. Donations may be made to St. Joseph Church, 31 Oak St. Winsted, CT. 06098
