Matthew H. Vaughan, 68, of Woodbury, CT died unexpectedly Monday, August 9, 2010, while vacationing with his family in Vermont.
Matt was the devoted and darling husband of Sandra Weir Vaughan for 46 years. Matt was born April 27, 1942, son of the late Matthew B. and Alice (Wood) Vaughan and was raised in Harrison, NY. He served with the Marine Corp Reserves for four years. Matt attended school at Westchester Community College in Valhalla, NY, where he earned a degree in Construction Technology in 1962. He continued his education by studying Industrial Design at the University of Bridgeport. In 1964, Matt started his career with Union Carbide Corporation in Tarrytown, NY, in its Construction Material Division before moving over to the Consumer Products Division of UCC. Matt spent the next 40 years of his career in the Research and Development Departments of several companies where he played a key role in bringing new automotive products to the marketplace. He made major contributions to the STP, Simonize, Prestone antifreeze, and car care automotive product lines. Through his many years of service Matt formed many long lasting friendships by his willingness to help others and high-level approach to professionalism. In 2008, Matt retired as Master Lab Technician.
Matt enjoyed many hobbies including photography, books, camping and fishing with his family and grandchildren. Through his patience, love, and enthusiasm, he has instilled this enjoyment in all of us. He was a highly skilled Jack-of-all-trades much relied upon by his family.
Matt's greatest love was his family, especially his wife Sandy, the light of his life. He is survived and adored by his daughters Susan V. Reedy and her daughters, Samantha, Cassandra and Jillian; Nancy V., wife of Paul Fitter and their sons, Alexander and Noah; Jennifer, wife of Michael Macchia and their children Sydney and Matthew; his sister Ellen and her husband Larry Datesh, his brother Gerald Vaughan; brother and sister-in-laws William D. and wife Patricia Weir; Dr. Douglas E. Weir; Jeffery A. and wife Nancy Weir and numerous nieces and nephews. He will be forever missed.

Services: Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 14, at 11: 00 a.m. at St. Teresa of Avila, 146 S. Main Street, Woodbury, CT.
