MaryAnn T. Eggert

Long time Bethlehem resident, Libertarian Justice of the Peace, Beloved Mother

Bethlehem, CT - Mrs. MaryAnn T. Eggert, 89, of Bethlehem passed away peacefully at Litchfield Woods Health Care Center in Torrington, CT on April 16, 2020.   She was the beloved wife of the late George Eggert for 56 years.

She was born on September 27, 1930 in upstate New York where her parents lived after they immigrated from Austria.

Mrs. Eggert enjoyed the outdoors and had been an avid gardener.  She travelled all over the world with her husband and earlier in her life with her older sister.  She was the first Libertarian Justice of the Peace in Connecticut and was also a sheriff for the Litchfield County judicial district.  She was a loving mother and wife and enjoyed spending time with her  family.

She was a graduate of Becker Junior College (now Becker College) in Massachusetts and before her marriage, she lived in Manhattan, NY with her older sister and worked for Parade magazine.

She is survived by her two daughters, Christina Eggert of Naugatuck, CT and Celia Eggert of Granby, CT. She is also survived by her brother, Aloysius Hechenberger, who lives in Maryland. and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her older brother and sister.

The family would like to thank Litchfield Woods for their great care of MaryAnn over the last month.

A memorial service will be private at a later date.  Interment will be in Carmel Hill Road Cemetery in Bethlehem, CT.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her name can be made to the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem, CT.

The Woodbury Funeral Home of Munson-Lovetere, 2 School St., is in charge of arrangements.
