Mary Elizabeth (Krisak) Matthews, 91, of Milo, ME, passed away Friday, August 7, 2009 at St. Mary's Hospital in Waterbury. She was the widow of Frank Matthews. Mrs. Matthews was born December 17, 1917, daughter of the late Paul and Victoria Krisak. A loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she loved her family and was always there for everyone to lend a hand, listen or to be a good friend. To know her was to love her. A devout Catholic her whole life, she enjoyed singing in her church choir. She also enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, gardening, fishing and outdoor activities. Mrs. Matthews grew up in Trumbull, CT on a farm with her brothers and sisters, Joseph, Paul, Andrew, Jean and Dorothy. A resident of Easton, CT most of her married life, and after her husband Frank's retirement from the Bridgeport Hydraulic Co., they moved to Lakeview Plantation, Maine, a small community where they resided for almost 30 years. Mary was quite an artist and took several art classes exploring the diversity of this hobby. She is survived by a son, James F. Matthews, Sr. and his wife Sue of Woodbury; their three children, James Jr. and his wife Christina of Oakville, Amy Castelletti and her husband Arthur of Danbury and Melissa Matthews of Woodbury; a daughter, Victoria Murray of Fiskdale, Mass. and her daughter Jennifer McCarthy and her husband Sean of Jackson, NH; her great grandchildren, Nicole Matthews of Raleigh, NC, Amanda and Elizabeth Scalzo of Woodbury and Jimmy McCarthy of Jackson, NH; a sister-in-law, Millie Krisak of Trumbull and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by all her siblings.

Funeral: St. Teresa's Church
Services: A memorial mass will be held Tuesday, August 11 at 10: 00 a.m. at St. Teresa of Avila Church, Main St. South, Woodbury. Burial is private.
