Obituary


SOUTHBURY Maryanne (Nappi) Candido, 82, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 7, 2015. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, former first selectman Alfio, with whom she shared 51 years of marriage. They are now causing mischief and plotting pranks together again.

Anne was born on February 6, 1933, in Bridgeport, daughter of the late Francisco and Bettina (Spezia) Nappi. She was a graduate of Bridgeport Central High School and worked at Remington Arms. Upon marriage in 1956 she left the city for country life in Southbury where she and her husband owned the Pioneer Drive-in and she later co-owned the Southbury Cleaners. She was president of the Ladies Auxiliary VFW Newton Post 1607, member of the Southbury Volunteer Fire Dept Ladies Auxiliary and the Southbury Grange. She was never allowed to retire and was Chief Executive of Errands for her son who owns Subway of Southbury and Subway of Middlebury, Chief Horticultural Officer of Candido Associates Annual Garden Plantings appreciated by the Southbury Garden Club and co-owner of the Southbury Package Store. On her rare off time she enjoyed many picnics, breakfasts and evenings out with the Old Guard of Southbury and evenings in watching Murder She Wrote and the UCONN Womens Basketball Team.

She is survived by her daughter Marianne of Chicago, IL and son Michael Joseph of Southbury CT. She leaves her sisters Julia Passalacqua of Stratford CT and Caroline Wohlforth of Westport CT. She is also survived by a brother-in-law, Dan Candido of Southbury, CT.
She was predeceased by her sisters, Philomena, Rose, Frances; brothers Louie, Joe, and Gabe. She is also survived by her niece Bettina who visited regularly and many other nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and extended family that only makes sense to Italian families.




Memorials: In lieu of flowers please go out to dinner, tell a story and toast Anne and Alfie and their life of service and love for one another, their families and the town of Southbury. Location: Munson-Lovetere Southbury

Funeral: Church Not Applicable

Services: Services will be Friday, November 13, 2015 at Munson-Lovetere Funeral Home of Southbury. In honoring her wishes, there will be a brief visitation from 11: 00AM-12: 00PM. Service will be at noon. Interment will follow at Pine Hill Cemetery, Southbury at 1: 00PM.
