Mr. Martin Albert Scherer, 71, of Scratchville Road, died Monday October 31, 2011 at Waterbury Hospital. He was the husband of Elizabeth Ann (Newton) Scherer.
Mr. Scherer was born August 23, 1940 in Middletown, a son of the late Martin and Grace (Hungerford) Scherer. He was a US Army veteran, a school bus driver and a truck driver.
He is survived by two sons, Wayne of Torrington, and Mark of Virginia, two daughters, Bonnie Scherer of Thomaston and Rebecca Scherer of Torrington, nine grandchildren, Joel Lance, Daryl, Mathew, Chris and Alex Scherer, Jesus, Joseph, Jasmine and Julia Aldarondo, a sister Helen Hungerford and two brothers, Charles Scherer and Donald Avery.
