Marthe (Beauchemin) Shanley, 96, of Washington, CT, died peacefully, Wednesday, August 5, 2009 at her home with her children by her side. She was the widow of Seton J. Shanley. Marthe was born January 16, 1913 in Chicoutimi, Quebec, Canada, daughter of the late Alphonse and Irene (LaFrance) Beuchemin. An extraordinary woman, Marthe lived a long, happy and wonderful life. She is survived by her son, Guy Shanley of Brighton, UK; her daughter, Lorraine Shanley and her husband Dr. David Snyder, of Bronxville, NY; a brother, Paul Beauchemin of Vancouver Island, BC; 2 grandchildren, Andrea Snyder and William Snyder. She was pre-deceased by her son, Aelred-Seton Shanley. A memorial mass will be held Tuesday, August 11 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 34 Green Hill Rd. (Route 47), Washington, CT. Burial will be private in Washington. Any friends or family wishing to send flowers, may instead bring fresh flowers to the mass from their gardens. Marthe's children would like to thank the staff of the VNA Northwest of Bantam for the care provided to their mother.

Services: A memorial mass will be held Tuesday, August 11 at 11: 00 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 34 Green Hill Rd. (Route 47), Washington, CT. Burial will be private in Washington. Any friends or family wishing to send flowers, may instead bring fresh flowers to the mass from their gardens.

Visitation: There are no calling hours.
