Mrs. Martha (Helm) Witthoft, 93, of Woodbury, died Sunday September 4, 2011 at her home. She was the wife of late Herbert C. Witthoft.

Mrs. Witthoft was born May 8, 1918 in Marion. Indiana, daughter of the late George and Nettie (Bahr) Helm. She has resided in Woodbury for the past 6 years, previously living for many years in Washington, CT. She was a member of the P.E.O., Chapter Q and a member of the Congregational Church of Washington. Mrs. Witthoft was very musical having played the organ, recorder, and harpsichord and was a classical pianist.

She leaves a son, Stephen W. Witthoft of Northport, NY, a daughter, Gretchen Tirita of Woodbury, three grandchildren, Wendy Reig, Stephen R. Witthoft and Alexis Witthoft, and three great grandchildren, Brendan, Hunter and Taylor.

She was predeceased by a brother Richard Helm and a sister, Gretchen Lobsiger.
