Martha P. Vacheron, 99, a former resident of Garden City for more than 60 years, passed away on Saturday December 12th at Pomperaug Woods in Southbury, CT.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, the daughter of Angelo and Silvia Pessolano, she grew up in Brooklyn and, after high school, worked as an executive secretary for the NY Telephone Company where she met her husband Edwin.
Mrs. V. was devoted to her husband and her two sons Donald and David. She loved music, studied piano and singing and enjoyed many performances at the Metropolitan Opera and on Broadway. She loved cooking and entertaining and playing bridge, volunteered at the Industrial Home for the Blind for many years and embroidered bibs for the babies being baptized at St. Joseph's Church. Most of all she cherished her family and was very interested in all their activities and accomplishments. Her last years at Pomperaug Woods were happily spent with new and dear friends.
She is survived by her loving son David, his wife Nan, her daughter-in-law Jackie, her grandchildren Tom, Pete, Margot, Karen and Greg and by her 12 great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband Edwin, her two brothers Alfred and Anthony, and her dear son Donald.

Services: A memorial service and life celebration, held at Pomperaug Woods, was attended by family and friends, followed by interment at Holy Rood Cemetery in Westbury, NY.
