Obituary

Martha Makl, age 93, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2017 at River Glen in Southbury.

Martha is survived by her daughter Tess Assard (Leonard) of Bethlehem; her sister Stephaney Hubyk of Oxford; six grandchildren, Richard Travers, Kenneth Assard, Rebecca Zielinski, Jeremy Travers, Jennifer Gallo and Lauren Carr and 10 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Paul, her daughter Linda Travers (James), and her brothers Michael, Ignace and Stephen.

Martha was born on Nov. 18, 1923 in Seymour, CT to parents Michael and Tessie Hubyk.

Martha worked at Southbury Food Center for many years, belonged to many Senior Centers and loved playing bingo. When she was home there was always a crochet hook in her hand and many of us benefited from her afghans and lap robes.

A funeral is scheduled at Munson Lovetere Funeral Home, 235 Main St. N, Southbury for Saturday, June 17th at 11:30 a.m. Calling hours are 9:30 to 11:30. Burial will follow at Southford Cemetery followed by a reception at Brookside Inn in Oxford.
