Woodbury - Marlene L. Sullivan, 82, of Woodbury, died Saturday November 30, 2013 at St. Mary's VITAS unit of St. Mary's Hospital. She was the wife of Robert Sullivan
Marlene was born October 2, 1932 in Waterbury. She was the daughter of the late Louis and Natalie (Longo) Lauria of Waterbury. Mrs. Sullivan graduated from the College of New Rochelle and earned a Master of Fine Arts Degree from Fairfield University. She taught elementary school in Cheshire, Waterbury and Naugatuck for 26 years.
Besides Bob's wife of 55 years she is survived by seven children: Kathy Troccolo, her husband Anthony of Thomaston; Robert Sullivan Jr., his wife Vivian of North Carolina: Nancy Kennedy of Naugatuck; Laurie Sullivan of Bethlehem; Karen Bierce, her husband Daniel of Roxbury; Michael Sullivan of Massachusetts and James Sullivan of Naugatuck
She leaves seventeen grandchildren: Matthew Troccolo, Jonathan Sullivan, Lisa Sullivan, Jaden Sullivan, Jordon Sullivan, Mia Sullivan, Jalin Sullivan, Meagan Brockway, Robert Kennedy, Sean Kennedy, Molly Kennedy, Amanda Casey, Kaitlyn LeCuyer, Eric LeCuyer, Daniel Bierce, Ally Bierce, Claudia Bierce and one great grandchild Tyler Casey
Mrs. Sullivan is survived by her brother Ronald Lauria, his wife Sandy, their sons Mark, his wife Sandy and Greg and his wife Geri. She is predeceased by her sister, Donna Lauria and her sister in law Joan (Sullivan) Wright.
Marlene loved her family and her church. She was dedicated to St. Teresa's Church where she served as a
She was a Eucharistic Minister and directed the Sanctuary and First Friday Ministries. In addition to being a caring mother and grandmother she enjoyed collecting antiques and watching English Mysteries and UConn Women's basketball on television.
The family would like to thank Dr. Mario Sznol and his staff at the Smilow Cancer Center, Dr. Richard Biondi of Southbury, and the staff at Vitas Hospice Care at St. Mary's for their care and compassion during this difficult time.

Funeral: St. Teresa's Church
Services: A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, December 3 at 11 a.m. at St. Teresa's Church.
Visitation: Friends may call the Woodbury Funeral Home of Munson-Lovetere, 2 School St. on Tuesday morning from 9 a.m. until leaving for church.
