Mr. Mark Culligan, 62, of Oxford, formerly of Dumont, N.J., died Monday July 18th, 2011 at Connecticut Hospice in Branford. He was the husband of Janet Nelson Culligan.
Mr. Culligan was born June 17, 1949 in Hackensack, New Jersey the son of the late James Joseph Culligan, step-son of the late Alexander Warchalowski Jr. and son of Catherine Van Saders Warchalowski of Bergenfield, New Jersey. Mark served in the US Navy for six years and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a decorated soldier having been awarded the Vietnam Medal with 2 Bronze Stars, Vietnam Campaign w/ Device 60, Armed Forces Service Medal for Korea, Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon, and National Defense Service Medal. He was a proud member of the VFW Post 1607 in Southbury. He worked for over 30 years with IBM Global Services in the office of CIO in the special projects division. His hobbies included playing the guitar, nature and the outdoors, but what he enjoyed most of all was spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren.
In addition to his loving wife of 36 years, he is survived by a son, M. Brent Culligan of Oxford; a daughter, Deirdre A. Culligan O'Leary of Branford, two grandchildren, Brooke Alexis O'Leary and Peter D. O'Leary, Jr.; three sisters, Maureen Baldassini and her husband Jose of Hackensack, NJ, Jane Sagaas and her husband Marshall of Englewood, NJ and Wendy Cronin and her husband Rod of Bloomingdale, NJ and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Alexander Warchalowski III and two sisters, Karen Rivas and Deborah DeConti.

Services: A funeral service will be held on Saturday July 23, 2011 at 6pm at the Southbury Funeral Home of Munson - Lovetere, 235 Main St. North. Burial will be private.
Visitation: Calling hours will be held on Saturday at the funeral home from 3pm until the time of service.
