Marion Lutz, 99, of Southbury died Tuesday August 5, 2014 at River Glen Health Care Center in Southbury. She was the wife of the late Karl Lutz.
Mrs. Lutz was born June 9, 1915 in Brooklyn, New York a daughter of the late Robert J. and Matilda (Gebhardt) Berran. She was a graduate of Traphagan School of Design. Marion was a women's fashion artist. Her work appeared in fashion advertisements in the New York City papers. She married Karl Lutz on November 1, 1947. They were married for 50 years.
Marion truly enjoyed living at Heritage Village in Southbury. She belonged to the camera club and was an avid bridge player. Marion was active in the Heritage Village government, serving as the treasurer and cluster captain for condo unit number 4 and, at one time, on the Board of Directors. Marion skied well into her 90's and enjoyed swimming and playing tennis with her friends. She was especially fond of traveling both within the United States and throughout the world. Germany, France, Switzerland, Russia, and India were some of the countries that she visited. One of Marion's passions was good food, and she especially delighted in a delicious jelly donut!
She is survived by her nephews and their spouses, Roger and Grace Kastel of Milford, MA, and Karlheinz and Ellen Schnerr of Pforzheim, Germany; great niece, Beth Krebs of Sherborn, MA; great nephew, Matthew Kastel of Monrovia, MD; great great niece, Jessica Krebs of NYC; great great nephews, Glen Krebs of Sherborn, MA and Luke and Grant Kastel both of Monrovia, MD; cousins, Rober Berran and Bruce Berran both of Florida; sister-in-law, Carol Manser of Leesburg, Florida and many dear friends.
