Marilyn Lichtenstein, loving mother and grandmother, passed away on Saturday, April 5, 2014. She was 86 years old. Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, Marilyn was one of the first women accepted at the prestigious Parsons School of Design, where she majored in visual art and art history. Based, for the majority of her career in Waterbury, CT, Marilyn mastered in the art of Japanese ink painting and calligraphy on silk and paper. She studied and eventually taught the technique at The Murikami Museum in Del Ray Beach, Florida. Marilyn's work was regularly exhibited at the Fall Fine Arts Festival in Southbury, CT which is also where she retired. A committed member and supporter of Hadassah, Marilyn worked with the organization throughout her life to promote positive change in youth education, medical education and medical care in Israel and in the United States. Marilyn is survived by two sons, Marc and Gary; and one grandson, David. She will be missed by many cousins and a countless number of wonderful friends.
