Maria Furst de Pena of Waterbury, CT. died September 5th, 2016 at the age of 98 years old. At the time she was residing at Glendale Center in Naugatuck. Maria was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina on February 13, 1918. She was the daughter of Maria Morales and Enrique Furst. She was pre-deceased by her beloved husband Rodolfo Pena. They married January 10th, 1941 in Buenos Aires. Maria arrived to CT in 1985 and adopted this beautiful State as her home. Music, art and knitting gave joy and color to her life. Every year at Christmas time she knitted children's hats and donated them to charity. In her early nineties she began to draw and paint. Each painting was an expression of her creative spirit.
Maria is survived by her two daughters, Alicia Pena Mari of Groton, CT and Silvia Pena of Waterbury, CT and her grandchildren, Alicia C. Mari and Pablo Lattes of Scarsdale, New York, Rodolfo S. Mari of Stonington, CT and Eduardo L. Mari and Wagner Mello of Harlem, New York and her great-granddaughter Ana Mello of Harlem, New York.
