Obituary

Mrs. Marguerite (Peggy) B. Shodlatz Nanes of Woodbury, CT. She was born on September 30, 1922 in Wilkinsburg, PA. She died peacefully on June 21, 2015 at home. Peggy was the daughter of Gladys (Shisbey) and William K. Shodlatz. She was the widow of Harvey R. Nanes. She grew up in Coraopolis, PA. Peggy graduated from Robert Morris College. She attended The University of Pittsburg and Sloan School of Music, Hunter college, NYC-Boot camp and Oklahoma A&M College. Peggy also attended George Washington University and graduated from Washington school of modeling. Peggy was Assistant to the director of the Coraopolis YMCA. She enlisted in the WAVES (Navy) in 1943 and was honorably discharged on June 27, 1950. Peggy worked at the Bureau of personnel, Washington, D.C. She was secretary to the Chief of Chaplains Pentagon, and Chief of Naval Operations Admiral Chester Nimitz. Peggy was past president of Woodbury Women's club, a past member of Woodbury community services, and town coordinator for Connecticut 350 in 1985. She leaves behind two children whom she loved so very much. Richard Douglas Nanes of Cooperstown, NY and Lisa Nanes-Sulliman and her husband George Sulliman of Woodbury, CT. She was predeceased by two sisters Anne Clark and Billie Kelley.A private family burial is to follow at North cemetery.
